Artists discovered Maaloula in the forties; since
then art students and artists have became regular
visitors. Every now and then, a new lover of
Maaloula is born
devoting his work to it and never feeling tried or
bored of painting it or seeing it  time after time
after time.
Painter Nassir Shora said "the first time I saw
it, I was stunned by its inspiring  views"
Nassir Shora was the first artist to paint it and the
first to ommunicate its magic to other artists.  In
Maaloula, Nassir Shora and Michel  Kirshe have
discovered "impressionism";
in the form of enhancing coloured and harmonious
relationship involving the subtle fusions of houses,
mountains and  sky with their contrasting colour.
There is also the experience of the  expressionists,
those who saw Maaloula  flooded by daylight,
seeing the brown color  of the mountain like that of
the desert and the white houses with the blue color
of the  sky. This experiments have produced
patterns reflected by the work of Milad Alchayeb,
Abdul Mannan Shamma, and other realist artists
like Nazem Al-Jafari,  Khalil Akkawi, Ghazi Alkhalidi,
Rashed  Mustapha and more
